Wine Tasting Event led by From Vineyards Direct

About From Vineyards Direct:

From Vineyards Direct offers a limited range of high quality and affordable wines delivered from Europe’s best vineyards to your door through an easy and efficient service. Our portfolio of wines covers the top wine-producing countries globally, though we specialise in French, Spanish and Italian wines. We take great pride in finding parcels of fairly priced wines which are not easily obtainable on the UK market. Other countries we source from include Austria, South Africa, New Zealand, Australia and the Americas.

We focus largely on working with small producers to seek out undiscovered wines. Prime examples of this can be found with such wines as Château de l’Abbaye de Saint-Ferme, Bordeaux 2010 and Arlaux Champagne Premier Cru, Grande Cuvée NV both offering fantastic quality at an exceptional price.

Our overall aim is to provide a sort-out, hand-picked selection of delicious drinking wines while maintaining fair prices for our customers.

Bankside Gallery is the gallery of the Royal Watercolour Society and the Royal Society of Painter Printmakers . Its vibrant exhibitions celebrate the very best in contemporary water-based media and original print, championing the work of both new and established artists.

From Vineyards Direct Declassified Range:

Bordeaux is a region where we excel, we offer a ‘declassified’ range of wines where excess juice from some of the world’s most iconic first and second growth vineyards is blended and offered to our customers under the respective appellation name. These wines are extremely well priced and give customers a chance to taste wine from some of the world’s best producers. For example, our new Margaux 2015 is from the appellations most famous property, where the Château label sells for over £1000 per bottle – 50x the price of our Margaux.

Pauillac 2014:
A seriously special wine from one of the most well-known Châteaux in the world. This wine comes from the top pedigree of winemakers and it is clear upon tasting it. The 2014 vintage was descibed by Steven Spurrier in Decanter as ‘a joy to taste’ and the best since 2010.

An extraordinary elegant, fruit driven nose. Very sophisticated Merlot driven fine wine that shows its real pedigree. This is already beginning to drink well.

Margaux 2015:
Our new declassified Margaux is from the exceptional 2015 vintage and comes from Margaux’s top estate which, in previous years, has only been sold privately to friends and family. It is blended to be drunk young (over the next 5-7 years) and is a real treat.

A deep garnet and purple with a glorious rich fruit nose. It is already showing what a great Claret this will become. A long finish – satisfying in every respect.

Saint-Julien 2014:
This terrific declassified Saint-Julien comes from the greatest of all 2nd growths (super seconds) from that appellation. The wine is fresh with wonderful ripe fruit and is drinking beautifully already.

Rich, powerful and bursting with red and black fruits, this is a remarkably complex Claret for the price. The concentration of the palate is underpinned by a streak of minerality alongside notes of cedar and leather. A perfectly balanced masterpiece, pair superbly with roast beef. Real class here and for another 7-10 years.

Sauternes 2016:
We have managed, at last, to find a small parcel of Sauternes from the greatest of Château of them all. The wine is wonderfully complex and is already quite delicious – it will last for a great many years.

A golden hue of aromatic exotic fruit and citrus flavours. Complex, round and well balanced with a long and lingering finish that shows off its immense pedigree. Already delicious – it will evolve over many years to come. Drink 2017-2030+.

Saint-Émilion de Quintus 2015:
Our new declassified Saint-Émilion comes from the new sensation in Saint-Émilion – Château Quintus, the Grand Cru Classé owned and managed by the owners of Château Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion. From the outstanding 2015 vintage, this Saint-Émilion has it all, a very high quality rich Claret which will provide immense pleasure for at least 10 years.

An intense dark red with a wonderful bouquet of rich ripe fruit. Full bodied with good concentration and just about the perfect blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon & Cabernet Franc and a long finish – exactly what you would expect with a wine of this pedigree and class.

Le Saint-Estèphe de Montrose 2015:
From the great 2015 vintage, this wine is from 2ème Cru Classé, Château Montrose’s younger vines and is blended to drink when young and over the next 10 years. Previously, it was made only for the Château’s owners and employees. It is delicious and affords a taste of this great Château at a fraction of the price.
