Calum Byers

Chairman of XTEND: Calum Byers

I founded my own consulting business – Schiltron Associates – after a career in telecoms and technology companies. I provide strategy advisory services and executive coaching to businesses and individuals undergoing change
I started with BT, working with Telconsult and then setting up their operation in Australia. I then joined a Scottish start up – Spider Systems – which provided LAN/WAN solutions. From there I went to Nortel Networks where I held a variety of positions from Account VP through to VP Global Sales Operations. In that role I managed the sale of the GSM business to Ericsson & Kapsch.
I then joined Aircom International as GM of the Software business, before coming Chief Operating Officer. When Aircom was bought by TEOCO I stayed on as UK MD to help with the transition of the business before leaving to found Schiltron.
I was a supervisory board member for EinsteinNet, an early SAAS business, and a director of Nortel Israel which was a JV with Telrad.

Specialities:

Executive coaching through transitions and life changes. Strategy coaching and development for SMEs.

Reason for joining XTEND

I was keen to extend my network outside of current connections and to compare notes with other small businesses with similar activities. I’ve been really impressed with how open and helpful everyone has been. I want to work with the rest of the committee to see how we can make XTEND even more effective for its existing members, and to attract new members who will also get real value from our activities.
