Marcel Knobil

Founder: VeryFirstTo; the Superbrands organisation; Cool BrandLeaders; Creative & Commercial; and Best Ads Never Seen

Anointed the ‘Brand Guru’ by both the Times and BBC Marcel is adept at helping build brands as well as commenting on them throughout the media.

Marcel has presented various series on BBC and commercial radio and is consistently called upon by the media (including BBC TV; ITV; CNN; the Times, Telegraph, etc) to comment on branding issues. He is engaged to speak around the world and is responsible for twelve books on the topic including: various ‘Superbrands’ books (known as ‘brand bibles’); ‘Business Superbrands’; ‘ebrandLeaders’; ‘Cool BrandLeaders’; and  ‘Best Ads Never Seen’.

In 2013 Marcel launched VeryFirstTo – the world’s only brand enabling one to be the first to know about, and have, newly launching luxury products and experiences. VeryFirstTo.com is fast becoming the world’s destination to discover and purchase newly released luxury, and the global platform to launch luxury from. The brand has already enjoyed around 1000 articles globally, and secured over 55,000 registered members (the world’s only significant database of early adopters of luxury).

He is probably best known for founding Superbrands (‘the world’s independent authority on branding’) which is present in over 50 countries. Knobil sold to Luke Johnson’s Risk Capital.

Marcel was simultaneously running a communications agency (Creative & Commercial) which he more recently sold to management.

He has worked with some of the world’s strongest brands including: Apple; Coca-Cola; Marks & Spencer; Virgin; and Yamaha.

Working life began with a number of marketing companies and ad agencies, predominantly as an account director within WPP (the world’s largest communications services group) – this followed a degree in Theology and a postgraduate in Advertising (his thesis was ‘Ethical Issues in Advertising).

His brand expertise has earned him a place on judging panels including: The Card Awards and The Sports Industry Awards.

In his spare time Marcel visits tribes around the world. He also has served on boards of, and advises, various charities.
