Benny Dembitzer – ‘The World is Sleepwalking into a Global Famine’

Because the media do not seem to be able to look at issues in the long term and holistically, the fact that the worst consequences of climate change, environmental degradation, unbridled consumption are already with us.  To most of us they represent minor inconveniences – but for increasing millions across the world they are the matter of life and death.

Benny Dembitzer is an international development economist who has worked across 35 countries in Africa and 2 in Asia for an array of international bodies – 5 International development agencies and 6 agencies of the United Nations including the World bank.

He was one of the founders of what is now called FAIR TRADE.

He was a member of the team awarded the 1985 Nobel Peace Prize.
