Monthly Meeting

Wednesday 8th January 2014 – 6pm

Address Details: Minster Exchange, Minster Pavement, Mincing Lane, London EC3R 7PP

Speaker: Gwyn Rogers – ‘Risky Talent’ – What gets people to the top and keeps them there?

It’s obvious that investing in a business without the right amount of due diligence is unwise.  So why don’t we have the same ‘mind set’ when it comes to selecting and developing the most essential people to take the business forward?  Why do we persist in trying to predict whether people will perform, rather than identifying  their ‘fatal flaws’ that will prevent them from getting to the top, or lead them to derail once they are there?

This session takes a fresh look at what constitutes ‘leadership talent’, what we really mean by potential, how we measure it and whether it can be developed.  Using recent examples drawn from the private and public sector, plus research based on assessment data from over 9,000 leaders, this session will challenge existing assumptions and examine the changing definition of talent.  It will also provide practical guidance about how to manage the risk of identifying, selecting and developing the people who will make your business succeed.

If you are a business leader, talent manager or someone whose organisation lives or dies by the quality of their people, then this session is for you.  It is intended to be interactive, practical and thought provoking.
